Blurb:
Not the perfect hero. Not her Prince Charming. He was...No White Knight.
Two stories, two women, two very dark men. Hero in Disguise Kidnapped and brought to an isolated military compound in the backwoods of West Virginia, Jessa Crowe realizes there is much more hidden in the dark depths of the hemlock trees. She is surrounded by hate, sex, torture, and death. Only to be claimed by the devil himself--Decker Cassidy. But what Jessa soon discovers is that her captor may very well be her hero in disguise. *** Pallid Slave I hate the color white. When I see white, I see the darkest shadows in the depths of hell. Colorless, yet black as coal. My planet of Unin had all but been destroyed, and what was left was quickly being devastated by civil wars throughout. Everything I once believed, once knew, once fought ruthlessly to protect, had now vanished. Once I was a warrior, and now I was a slave being transported to a planet 720 hours away to die. Transported by two brothers. A lot can happen in 720 hours...

Review:
Story 1
Jessa is trying to escape reality in the hills of West Virginia, even if it just for a little while. What she doesn’t plan on is getting caught in a torrential downpour and running into no one for miles. Whenever she finally does find civilization no one seems to know where they are or how to get her to her destination until she meets a very strange woman in a diners. After following the directions she ends up at a lumberyard begging for her phone to show her the way with a little bit of service. What she gets instead is kidnapped. She gets the Aryan Brotherhood hillbilly style. What she doesn’t expect is to find a diamond in the ruff, so to speak. The devil just may be a hero.

Story 2
Truth lost her sister trinity to a bullet to the brain. She lost her color and her will to be happy. She also lost her freedom that very day. As a lifeblood twin if you lose your sibling, you become a Pallid Slave. A fighter turned slave makes for a hard transition. What Truth doesn’t expect to run into is another set of Lifeblood Twins and a whole lot more problems. After a grueling round of punishment from one of the twins and learning about her future as a canary, Truth is terrified for her life. Unfortunately for her, she also didn’t expect to catch feelings for a man who doesn’t want anything to with her and another one who can’t bring himself to stand up for her all while facing certain death.

Whenever I signed up for No White Knight I had no idea what I was getting myself in for. I saw the words Dark and Romance and said, “ yes please!”. Im not sure how I feel about these two short novellas. Im developing a love hate relationship, that is for sure. I really enjoyed the storylines of both of these short stories which is even more weird for me because the second novella has more of a sci-fi feel to it and I’m definitely not into that genre of romance. However, no matter how far out of my comfort zone I got I was still drawn into Alta Hensley’s writing. I felt as if some of the dialogue was a little far fetched but all in all it held my attention. If you are looking for something a little different from the well beaten path you have came to the right place.- Daddy L
