CHECK OUT THE TRAILER!
Well hello there Mr. Mercer. Oh I know what you’re thinking. Seattle, NDA and an escort….no this isn’t some sort of FSOG rip off. And it isn’t that kind of story either. This book has a lot of depth in it. It goes beyond the typical billionaire story. Trust me, I usually avoid those. And originally, I was avoiding this one too. But I saw a teaser of this one in an anthology and knew I had to get my hands on it. I was enticed by that peek and enthralled as soon as I opened the pages of the book.
Willow is a contradiction. She’s broken, weak but also strong. Her burdens are tough ones to bear at any age, let alone hers. These burdens force her to make choices that not everyone would agree with. Shaw is rich as sin, charming, and powerful. He knows what he wants and he goes after it. The chemistry between these two is red hot. There is a lot of push-pull between them and it did get a little tiring but once they got together…KABOOM! It’s definitely a slow burn.
The character development was also great. Both of them had intricate backstories with depth. They each had their own flaws, strengths and insecurities. The secondary characters were just as great. I loved Noah and Sierra. I’d love to see them each get their own books. The pace varies; it was slow at some parts and flowed faster in others. But it didn’t keep me from being captivated by the story. The drama wasn’t too much and not super angsty.
Overall, a really great read. I truly enjoyed reading it. There were some twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting. And whoa, that ending definitely caught me off guard. I can’t wait for the next one. -Peace and love, Buxom J
About the Author:As a USA Today Bestselling author, I write stories that are deeply emotional with flawed characters, because humans ARE flawed and if we read about perfect characters living in their perfect world, first of all, snoozer, but secondly, we never experience the gratification of redemption. Outside of writing, I’m just a regular ol’ Midwest girl who likes Game of Thrones and am obsessed with Modern Family and The Goldbergs. I run, I eat, I run, I eat. It’s a vicous cycle. I love carbs, but there’s love-hate relationship with my ass and thighs. Mostly hate. I like a good cocktail (oh hell…who am I kidding? I love any cocktail). I’m a huge creature of habit, but I’ll tell you I’m flexible. I read every single day and if I don’t get a chance…watch the hell out. My iPad and me: BFFs. I’m direct and I make no apologies for it. I swear too much. I love alternative music and in my next life I want to be a bad-ass female rocker. I hate, hate, hate spiders, telemarketers, liver, acne, winter and loose hairs that fall down my shirt (don’t ask, it’s a thing).
