Review
I have a feeling this series is going to end up as one of my
guilty pleasures. Poppy was dirty, naughty and an entertaining read. A short novella, it is insta-love, which I
usually steer away from but the fairy tale aspect of the series makes it work. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t your Mama’s
fairy tales and it’s pretty unique even among adaptations. I found hints of the fairy tale I thought it
was based on but overall it was its own unique beast. Storm Royal needs to marry and due to a
gentleman’s agreement he must choose from the Flower women. He’s a dirty talking, charming, and confident
alpha male. Poppy is innocent, naïve and
purposely kept that way. She’s been
warned she’ll end up in an arranged marriage.
There is a tiny bit of drama but it works with the story and
doesn’t overwhelm the novella. While the
characters are not overly complex, they aren’t one note sallys either. There’s some definite personality and
complexity there. The sex scenes are
HOT, HOT, HOT! The chemistry between
them is explosive. There are some
interesting side characters and I appreciated that though it’s a series about
siblings, the siblings were not overly involved. This kept the novella focused on the main
characters and not the overall arch of the series. I like that with novellas since they tend to
be short and sweet. There’s no info dump
here.
If you like insta-love novels or if you haven’t tried one
but need a break from angst filled romances, definitely pick this one up. Horst definitely knows how to write
insta-love and keep a person entertained.
I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of the Royal siblings. -Peace and Love, Buxom J
