Our Review
As is my style, I fall for the rough around the edges alpha types. Cue Agent Liam. He is this bad ass anti-terrorist agent who does not play any games whenever it comes to his job or his life. Of course as an employee of an underground anti- terrorist agency, they have one rule. No personal relationships. This proves a hard rule to follow whenever he commandeers the rust bucket of one very interesting desk worker named Tess.
Tess is this quirky lady who lives a mundane life. She is stuck working an office job she hates, having her accomplishments stolen by fellow employees, and has a friend who is never around because of a new relationship. So when a mysterious man in an expensive suit hops into her car on the highway she knows only bad things are to come. As any sane person would do, she appeases the man of mystery.
Man of Mystery was a very interesting read for me. I would catch myself rolling my eyes in certain parts of this book, just because some of the things Tess would say were so overplayed. Then there were times I’d find myself unable to put down my kindle long enough to work. I have never had a book that I was so perplexed about while reading. I LOVED the action packed scenes. However, I needed more romance.I felt the book was too focused on the action and didn't develop Tess and Liam's relationship enough.. Even with all of this I still really enjoyed the Man of Mystery.
