And everyone knows it, including Olivia. As irritated as he might be, protecting Olivia is what Danny does. But put best friends under one roof, add house rules begging to be broken, accidental nakedness, and pancakes in bed, and what started as a marriage between friends threatens to turn into the real deal…which would ruin everything.

Review

How far would you go to help out your best friend?  In The Best Friend Bargain, we see just how far furniture maker Danny will go to protect his best friend Liv.  This was a really cute and sweet friends to lovers story.  I definitely had some feels going on, some tears were shed and laughs were laughed.   After losing her job in a horrific manner, Liv dropped everything and took off to London.  Once there, she appeared to disappear into the ethers, not communicating to anyone.  Now she’s back and she’s brought back a little souvenir that’ll appear in nine months.  That’s where Danny comes in.  She has this crazy plan that they should get married and pass the baby off as his.  His plan had been to never get married, never have kids…he never wanted to be a burden.  That’s all about to change.

It’s always a testament to a writer when they can incorporate flaws into a character without them seeming fake.  Robin Bielman seems to be an expert at this.  Both Danny and Liv have flaws but they are woven within their character in such a way that it’s just a part of them, not this glaring red sign that says “look at my flaw, it’s going to cause conflict later.”   It made them relatable, the book enjoyable and kept me engaged throughout.  Their romance was sweet and flirty, their chemistry easy and natural.  And the side characters were fantastic.  I absolutely loved Mrs. L.

I’m upset that I haven’t stumbled upon Bielman earlier.  I’m going to have to go back and pick up the first two books in the series.  I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for future releases too.  -Peace and Love, Buxom J

Excerpt

The tail end of daylight cast a glow around her in one-of-a-kind beauty and he found himself tucking her hair behind her ear as she looked up at him with similar appreciation.
When her gaze moved to his mouth, he was a goner.
He ignored the voice inside his head reminding him she was his best friend and once they crossed this line they could never go back, and gave her two seconds to say something to change his mind.
One, two…
She took a step back.
One kiss. One kiss to get it out of his head and put it to rest. She might have placed another foot between them, but Danny saw the indecision in her eyes. He inched closer anyway, unwilling to let her go without one more try. It was a jerk move, but if he didn’t get to taste her he’d go insane wondering.
He cradled her neck in his hands.
“Danny.” He liked how breathless his name sounded on her lips.
“We have to. I’m going out of my mind, Liv.”
She half gasped, half sighed, a pleasure-and-pain kind of sound he wanted to turn into one of satisfaction. They had to get this crazy new attraction out of the way so they could go back to being just Liv and Danny. “Make it terrible,” she whispered.
He smiled. “I’ll do my best.”
“To make it awful,” she reiterated.
“Prepare yourself for the worst kiss ever.”
Her small smile made itself at home inside his chest. He lowered his mouth to hers. No tongue, he told himself. Keep it innocent. Safe.

Playlist

Hey everyone! Happy summer!

I don’t listen to music while I’m writing. I’m one of those writers that like to have it quiet when I sit at my laptop to work. But music is a big part of my pre-writing ritual. I’ll listen to music to help get my head in my story (very often while I’m also running on the treadmill) and then I’ll sit down and hopefully the words flow. So, here’s the playlist for the songs I listened to over and over again while I was writing Danny and Olivia’s story, The Best Friend Bargain.

“Hold Me Up” by Conrad Sewell
“Levels” by Nick Jonas
“Sleeping With A Friend” by Neon Trees
“The Other Side” by Jason Derulo
“Ready For Your Love” by Gorgon City
“Take Me” by Rufus
“Simply Being Loved” by BT
“To The Skies” by Kaskade

Happy reading and music listening!
