Kellan James is unwinding at Score when he spots the last person he’d ever expect to find in his favorite bar. Sara Connelly—ER nurse, do-gooder, charitable crusader, and frequent pain in his ass. Both grew up privileged in swanky Southampton, but that’s where the similarities end. Kellan’s made it his mission to seek out life’s pleasures; Sara gains pleasure from lecturing him on his lifestyle. Kellan would never date someone like her. Ever. But when Kellan discovers Sara’s been stood-up by an online date, something fierce and protective awakens inside of him. Typically, Kellan would enjoy teasing the jilted Sara, but something in her face sends him over to her table with a plan. He encourages her to take a walk on the wild side, one weekend of sin, no holds barred. She accepts, but it quickly becomes apparent that one night isn’t enough. As the pull between them grows stronger, Kellan discovers it’s a very dangerous thing to say never.
Review
I have made no bones about it that I am a junky for friends
to lovers books. Add in the lure of the
taboo and I’m even more intrigued. I
couldn’t wait to get my grubby little hands on Seducing the Boss by Mari Carr.
And it so met my expectations. The
story is deliciously dirty and delightful.
It’s a quick read full of steamy scenes that are sure to keep you
entertained.
Kellan, CEO at the local hospital, has sworn off
relationships and is well known to his friends as a commitment-phobe. Sara, an ER Charge nurse, is his exact
opposite. She dreams of having it all—marriage,
kids, the white picket fence. Kellan
knows this; they’ve been friends since childhood. Plus, he’s her boss. So why would he proposition her for a weekend
of no holds barred sex when he sees that she’s been stood up at the bar?
Kellan is a really hot alpha type; Sara’s feisty and seeing
the two interact was fun. It kept me
grinning. Add in the sweet heat between
them and I often needed to fan myself to cool off. The characters were well-developed despite
the shorter length of the book. No heavy
drama or angst, just an easy read. I can’t
wait to read the rest of the Pulse series. -Peace and Love, Buxom J
"You want a one-night stand, and I want to have it with you. You want to explore your wild side, and I have the experience to guide you through those desires—safely. You don’t want a lifetime with me, and I have no intention of making a long-term commitment. Everything lines up. It’s fate.”
Kellan James is a take no shit, alpha man. He is used to getting his way and getting the job done. The only person who seems to meet him on an even playing field is one Sara Connelly. The sassy yet sweet E.R. nurse and lifelong friend of Kellan doesn’t let him get under her skin. That is until Sara is stood up at a bar by an online blind date and Kellan is there to witness it. After a proposal of epic proportions. One weekend. No strings. HOT SEX. Sara Connelly and Kellan James can’t seem to decide is there more or less to be offered after their weekend together.
Mari Carr has done it once again for me! I seem to be finding myself in love with this author more and more as I go through her books! Seducing The Boss is no different. It is a quick read that has me not only ready the next book in this series but also ready for anything I can get my hands on that says Mari Carr at the bottom of it! -Daddy L
