Synopsis:

In this grudge match, the first to score…

When style columnist Matilda Kent accidentally lets slip that she was once involved with the captain of the Sydney Smoke rugby team, she suddenly finds herself elevated to the position she’s always wanted – feature writer. The catch? She’s stuck doing a six-part series on her ex. Still, there’s no way she can turn down a promotion…or the chance to dish the dirt on the guy who so callously broke her heart. …could win it all!

Tanner Stone wants to be involved in a feature series about as much as he wants to snap an Achilles. But the thought of seeing Tilly again is a bonus—and has him more worked up than he wants to admit. Only he’s not prepared for how different she is – all cool and professional. His Tilly is still in there, though…and he still wants her, now more than ever. All he has to do is charm her into giving him a rematch. And this time, winner takes all!

Reviews

Playing By Her Rules came right at the right time for me as I anxiously awaited the start of the rugby matches during the Olympic games.  As a rugby fan, reading about a rugby player was going to have to do until I could watch it during the Games.  One thing to keep in mind when reading this book is if you are not familiar with Australian and/or rugby terms or slang, you might get confused.  Luckily, the author put a glossary of sorts in the back of the book.  Don’t be afraid to use it!

This was my first book by Amy Andrews and I was so glad I took a chance on reading this book!  I mean how could I not?  Sexy rugby player plus a second chance romance?  It was as if she wrote it for me.  Now, the story follows a familiar storyline but Andrews puts her own spin on it so it doesn’t seem too stale.   I still enjoyed reading it.  Matilda is a journalist who is looking for an opportunity to move up in the ranks.  She just wasn’t expecting it to come in the form of the ex that stomped on her heart with his rugby cleats.  Tanner is a cocky, playboy rugby player in a world of cocky, playboy rugby players but he at least seems to have his head on his shoulders.

What really kept me engaged and reading was Tanner.  He knew he screwed up, and despite his alpha maleness, he was super sweet and worked to woo his Tilly back.  When one thing didn’t work, he evaluated and adjusted.  I also loved his teammates, they had me laughing.  I can’t wait until some of them get their own books, especially Linc.  I hope whoever he falls for knocks him on his arse.  Overall though, Playing By Her Rules is well written and enjoyable.  A great read for when you just need to wind down and relax with a sexy hunk of a rugby player.  -Peace and Love, Buxom J

5 pervy stars for Playing by Her Rules. This was my first book that has to do with Rugby and I was intrigued by the sport in and of itself. I love the world that Amy Andrews created with the characters of this book. Tilly and Tanner has a serious past that was muddled by Tanner’s decision to make a big move. One that ruined his relationship with Tilly eight years ago. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, waiting for the other shoe to drop and to find out where these two were going to take me. I seriously loved this book and I recommend it to everyone! You won’t be disappointed.
