BLURB

One accident - a freaking car crash.

That’s all it took to send my brother’s and my life into a tailspin with no end in sight. I was going to be something. I was going to be the best. I had the Olympics in my sights. And it all went to shit in one flash. Brayden wasn’t ready to raise a younger sister when I was thrown into his lap. He had his life and everything going for him. Thankfully, he was still drafted to his dream hockey team. The same one dad played for when we were growing up.

It took time, but I started to get better, started to open up, started skating and even dating again. I even thought I found the perfect guy for me.

Isn’t it funny how guys hit on you when they know you’re not available, but when you’re single they won’t give you the freaking time of day? I guess the game is more fun that way. And for the captain of my brother’s team, that’s exactly what I was. A hat trick is three goals in hockey. Some say three is a crowd and they might be right.

I was Gavin Hayes' unobtainable goal.

REVIEW

I’m a big hockey fan and I love a good bad boy, mixing the two together?  I’m sold.  So I was excited to read Hat Trick by Kristen Hope Mazzola.  Add in a dash of teammate’s little sister drama and it’s even spicier.  I just wish the story had lived up to the blurb.  The storyline was interesting, the characters were engaging and it was well written.  I just felt it was a little too fast and simple.

Myla and Braden are both recovering from a horrible tragedy, each coping with the aftermath in their own way.  Braden takes his aggression out on the ice while pursuing his hockey dreams while Myla hides from the sport that once filled her dreams.  Through Braden, Myla meets Gavin, a hockey bad boy and team captain.  Their romance was a sweet one and I did enjoy it.  I just found the development of the characters on the short side, there was a lot of potential there as characters and as a couple.  Now, I don’t always need heavy conflict and drama in a book to make it interesting but this almost seemed to have none, no challenges for the couple to face.

If you like light and sweet romances for a quick and easy read, this may be for you.  I just needed more to keep my attention going.  -Peace and Love, Buxom J
