Review: Close to You - Kristen Proby

BLURB

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby comes the second novel in her sizzling Fusion series.

Camilla, “Cami,” LaRue was five years old when she first fell in love with Landon Palazzo. Everyone told her the puppy love would fade—they clearly never met Landon. When he left after graduation without a backward glance, she was heartbroken. But Cami grew up, moved on, and became part-owner of wildly popular restaurant Seduction. She has everything she could want...or so she thinks.

After spending the last 12 years as a Navy fighter pilot, Landon returns to Portland to take over the family construction business. When he catches a glimpse of little Cami LaRue, he realizes she’s not so little any more. He always had a soft spot for his little sister’s best friend, but nothing is soft now when he’s around the gorgeous restauranteur.

Landon isn’t going to pass up the chance to make the girl-next-door his. She’s never been one for romance, but he’s just the one to change her mind. Will seduction be just the name of her restaurant or will Cami let him get close enough to fulfill all her fantasies?

REVIEW

When I’m in the mood for something sweet and sexy, I always know that I can reach for a Kristen Proby novel.  Close to You was no different.  It was just the right balance of light and easy with genuine emotion.  The perfect thing for after some pretty angsty reads.  The book is flawlessly written, with characters that are flawed, realistic and relatable.  I was able to completely immerse myself into the story.  Now I have to confess, I didn’t read Listen to You before diving into this one but it wasn’t necessary.  I was able to follow the story easily.  That being said, I did go out and buy it because I wanted to read Addie and Jake’s story!  But that’s another review for another day.

I found Cami adorable, endearing and charming.  I found her situation with her ex hilarious, I don’t know of anyone that is that friendly to an ex.  But I admired it too.  Her lifelong crush on Landon was cute.  Landon sounded delectable.  He’s sweet, romantic and respectful.  If you’re looking for a good guy book boyfriend without the jackhole personality traits found in many novels look no further.  Landon fits the bill perfectly.  Now if only someone would invent a machine to make book boyfriends come to life.  The side characters in the story are just as fantastic.  They add humor and depth.  This is a group of friends that are as close as family.  Plus he’s her best friend’s older brother.  And we all know that’s my jam.

This one is definitely hitting my re-read list.  Low drama, sweet and steamy?  Oh yeah, perfectly paired with a glass of wine and a comfy blanket and I’m in the zone.  If you like sweet and sexy romances, definitely one-click this one.   And all her others, you won’t be disappointed.  I promise.  -Peace and Love, Buxom J
