From the very beginning of It’s You, I knew that this was going to be a paranormal book that
wasn’t going to be easily forgotten. And
I was ecstatic. Katy Regnery drew me in
and kept me captivated with her unique world building, attention to detail and
fascinating take on a subject that often seems as if it’s been run into the
ground. I couldn’t put the book
down. What a great way to start off
2017.
As a paranormal genre lover, I’ve started actually veering
away from the paranormal romance books because often times I find them too “fluffy”
and not enough of the actual substance of paranormal in them. That is so not the case here. A ton of development and world building went
into creating a mythos that feels real.
It’s completely different from anything I’ve read before. Regnery
took me back to my paranormal roots while adding in a star-crossed lovers
romance that gave my heart the romance it needed.
Darcy Turner was struck by Cupid’s bow as a teen by two
simple kisses and a single phrase. From
that moment on, she couldn’t get Jack Beauloup out of her mind. Other than that, she’s a smart, independent
and driven woman. I find her slightly
quirky. It was easy for me to connect
with her. She goes at things
rationally, which can be slightly frustrating.
Jack is the brooding, strong and
silent type. He had secrets he wanted to
keep, that he needed to keep and he was determined to keep them. He has a romantic, poetic side that calls to
the soft, mushy part of my heart. The
chemistry between them was undeniable.
It was at times sweet and at times electric. I loved how complex the characters were; each
had dozens of layers to them. Even the
side characters were layered.
If you’ve never read a paranormal romance, this is the one
to start with. If you're a paranormal lover, this isn't one to pass by. It’s unique in its
mythos, it gives a beautiful look into the paranormal world and it’s
fantastically written. It’s You is one of the best paranormal
romance books I’ve read in years. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one
and I hope that Regnery continues to write within this world or creates
others. She certainly is a master world
