Title: Plus One
Author: M.N. Forgy writing as Missy Blake
Genre: Romantic Comedy

About Plus One:

No feelings. No lies of calling the next day, and no empty promises of not banging anyone’s mother. If I could act like I’ve never met a set of twins I screwed on the same night, thinking they were the same person, then I could do this. It was the perfect set up for a fake relationship and it was simple. We faked our smiles, we faked our laughs; hell, we even faked our love. It wasn’t real. But that kiss was anything but fake, and the orgasm was anything but pretend.   Somehow my plus one had become more, and now I’m standing here with my underwear around my ankles wondering what in the hell to do next.

Review

There’s just something about fake relationship books that I love.  Even though you know what’s going to happen, it’s what happens on the journey that makes the book.  Plus One definitely takes you on a journey.  From the start, I was caught up in the story.  I thought it was cute and flirty.

After being jilted, Rae’s living her life as she wants with no regrets.  She’s independent and feisty.  I like that in her.  Max is similarly living his life on his own terms after a bad break up.  He’s cocky and arrogant.  The two of them together set sparks off.    There’s some pretty great banter and push-pull between the two of them.  I just wish they had been developed more.  I felt the characters were tittering on the edge of not being developed enough.

What kept me from squeeing in joy over the book is that I found some of their actions pretty immature for supposedly older characters.  And though I enjoyed her quips, I found the best friend on the annoying side.  That being said, this is an easy and entertaining read.  It’s low on angst with a couple of twists.  It has some great humor and heat.  If that’s up your alley, it’s definitely worth checking out.  -Peace and love, Buxom J
