Smith Hamilton has it all—he's smart, good-looking and loaded. But he remembers a time when he had nothing and no one, so he's not about to mess up, especially with his best friend’s little sister. That means keeping Evie at arm's length … even though the once pesky little girl is now a buxom bombshell. A sexy blonde who pushes his self-control to the limit the night she crawls into bed with him.
Evie Reed knows she's blessed—with an exclusive education, a family who loves her, and a new job managing social media for her family's lingerie company. But she wants more, like a reason to wear the sexy lingerie herself. She has just the man in mind to help with that. She's crushed on Smith forever. Surely tricking her way into his bed will force him to see her in a new, adult way.
Except that when Evie's plan leads to disaster, she and Smith must decide—ignore the attraction sizzling between them, or become play mates and risk it all.
Review
Brother’s best friend books are seriously my guilty
pleasure. If I see in a blurb that a
book is this trope, my finger gets one-click happy. So I was super happy when I saw that Kendall
Ryan’s latest was one. I knew I had to
get my grubby little hands on this baby.
And I adored it. I’m a recent fan
of Ryan’s and with each book of hers I read, I fall more in love with her
writing style. She has a unique style of
blending humor and heart that is real and emotional without losing any of the
steamy heat. When I open on of her
books, I know I’m going to escape into her words.
The characters have grown up together, automatically
bringing a history and depth to the book that makes me drool. And while we don’t get extensive flashbacks,
I can appreciate the lack of them.
Sometimes they can definitely bog down a story and that doesn’t happen
here. Evie is young, inexperienced and
determined to change that. She’s set her
sights on the one man she’s had a crush on for years. Smith is successful, smart and charming. He’s also determined to ignore his attraction
to his best friend’s little sister. But
all this changes one night in Paris. The
sexual tension and witty banter between them is top notch. The chemistry is explosive. I love the two of them together, they work as
a couple.
The character was decent; Smith had a complex backstory but
Evie less so. But both are pretty
complex characters with strengths and weaknesses that come into play. The secondary characters are pretty great
too. This is definitely a light hearted
read, there’s little to no drama here and definitely no angst. It’s fun, sexy and fast-paced—the perfect
thing to read when you need an escape. So
if you’re looking for something light-hearted, I’d definitely recommend picking
this up. -Peace and Love, Buxom J
