I used to think that if you could combine all three into one female, you’d have the perfect woman. The other guys in the Single Dads Club razz me for wearing the crown of the forever bachelor. The one who’ll be in his seventies chasing down young hotties in his wheelchair.
Then why the hell does Ava Pearson—an outdoorsy girl, a brunette, and a woman who screams stability and responsibility—seem to be the only woman on my mind lately?
Especially when I’ve got enough obligations without adding any complications to the mix—my son, my bar…well, that’s about it. But that’s enough for a guy like me.
It’s the cupcakes. It’s gotta be the cupcakes she bakes that keep me coming back for more. After all, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, right? Well, it’s apparently a direct target to his dick, too.
Did I forget to mention that she’s my buddy’s daughter…another member’s daughter?
Ava might say she can handle being friends-with-benefits, but I’m not sure she can. Unfortunately for her I’m too selfish of a prick to care—until I do.
To say I was gun shy to read Dirty Talker is an understatement. When I read Real Deal I couldn’t stand Dane. He got on my last nerve and I just wanted to slap him silly. It was definitely going to take some smooth writing to redeem him in my eyes. And I have to say Piper Rayne delivered. We still got his trademark “Daneisms” where he opens his mouth and inserts his foot, but there is so much more to this playboy than I expected. He is hard working, sweet, and a great dad. Oh man, he is one of the best dirty talkers I’ve read. Dane definitely knows how to get a woman’s engines revving. But who would take him on when all we see is his mask?
Ava is sweet, sassy, and a little smart assy. This woman gave as good as she got. I loved the witty banter back and forth between her and Dane. There was definitely some chemistry there. But I loved that it was more than just sex—there was definitely a friendship developing. Both of them were well-written, well-developed and complex. I loved seeing all the secondary cast that we met in the first book as well as Marcus and Cat. It makes me wish I lived in a town like Climax Cove.
There is a little bit of drama in the book, what else would expect with a mouth like Dane’s? But it’s well suited to the story. I was definitely taken aback when I ended up with the sheen of tears in my eyes. I wasn’t expecting the feels. There’s still plenty of humor, but there’s a lot more heart and feels involved. If you like heartwarming stories that’ll heat you up, I would go out and one-click this today. And if you haven't tried these ladies' books, it's even more imperative. Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two established authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?
