What happens when the universe gets in the way of your "follow through"?

BLUE BALLS

Truth: A painful condition caused by a prolonged state of sexual arousal without release.
Myth: Only affects males.

SARAH

I’m beyond frustrated with the man who’s left me high and very far from dry. Multiple times. But, somehow, even though I’m not interested in a relationship, Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Handsome keeps me coming back for more—one crazy, sexual debacle after the next.

Come hell or high water, the stars will align, and the release will be out of this world.

JACK

I’m captivated with the woman who’s left me sixty-nine shades of blue, and she's only in this for one thing. The first time, I blew it—and not in the good way—but I’m going to ensure we finally see it through. I need to put an end to this “plague” of sexual calamities and prove to Sarah that we can have more.

It's time to grab the universe by the balls and show it who's boss.

I first met Sarah and Jack in Clam Jam and I immediately knew that I wanted to read their story.  So I was excited to dive in to Blue Balls.  I mean a name like Blue Balls; it’s bound to be good right?  There were definitely some hilarious moments.  Some of the shenanigans and situations the characters found themselves in had me cringing and thinking “OMG, they didn’t.”  But there were others that just failed to tickle my funny bone.

Sarah is sassy, smart mouthed, and a commitment phobe.  I love how connected she is with her sexuality.  She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t.  And what she wants right now is Jack.  Jack is sweet, patient, and funny.  I have to admit for the first 15% or so I didn’t much like him but he quickly won me over.  Sarah, on the other hand, kept me at arm’s length for the whole book.  I often felt like Jack got the crap end of the stick in their shenanigans.  I will say that while I enjoyed the blue balls moments, some of them are quite hilarious, at about 60% in I was kind of over them.  I felt like the repeated situations caused the book to drag a bit for me.  And then when things finally start moving along, the book was over.

Over all, though, it’s definitely a cute book.  It’s well written and the plot was definitely well thought out.  I could have used a little bit more development in the characters but they weren’t completely flat so it didn’t annoy me too much.  A definite solid story from Ms. Boldt.

If you’re a rom-com fan, you might want to pick this one up.  Even if it’s just for the many ways you can get blue balls.
