It’s always hard to review a Jay McLean book. I just can’t.
I just. She leaves me speechless
and I can’t English. Ugh, I swear every
time I read one of her books, she tears a little piece of my soul off and devours
it. Logan
is heartbreakingly beautiful. I only
have to tell my husband I’m reading one of her books and he’ll get me
chocolate, a blanket, and liquor because the hangover I get from the liquor
will pale in comparison to the book hangover.
And I know that this one is going to be a fierce one. I’m still teary-eyed over this one. But that’s not the only feels you’ll
find. There’s humor, hope, heartache,
heart-warming, and so much more.
Little Logan is all grown up. And he’s turned into a cocky, mischievous bad
boy but there’s also something broken about him. There is so much to this boy-man that it seems
like you see a different layer every time you turn a page. And that’s what I love most about McLean’s
books. Her characters are ones that worm
their way into your heart and mind. They
make you feel. They are relatable, raw,
and real. Logan and his lady love are no
different. They are stunning in their
development, well-written and complex.
Logan’s lady love is eccentric, resilient, and unique. She’s different than your average heroine and
I love that about her. I easily fell in
love with these two characters. Their
connection was full of witty banter, passionate love, and a journey that’s
unforgettable.
This is definitely an angsty story. But I wouldn’t have a McLean book any other
way. They make me think and feel. If you haven’t picked up one of her books yet,
you are seriously missing out in a BIG way.
I can count on one hand the number of authors that impact me with each
book and Jay McLean tops that list. Just
make sure to have some comfort items nearby.
