Review: Hey, Whiskey - Kaylee Ryan

Title: Hey, Whiskey
Author: Kaylee Ryan
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: January 9, 2018

I’m over this year, and I’m over relationships.  I’ve learned that the only person you can count on in life is yourself.  Moving forward, I’m living for me.  Working toward standing on my own two feet, that’s my goal.  Funny how meeting him changed my path.

It’s been years since I’ve been back in this small town of West Virginia for more than a day or two.  Spending time here brings back a lot of fond memories.  When I stopped by an old friend’s bar, I was expecting to grab a drink and catch up.  What I didn’t expect was her.

We share an undeniable attraction, but we continue to fight it.

Until one night in Vegas changes everything.

I chose the perfect book to get back into the swing of things after an extended absence due to illness.  Hey, Whiskey was sweet, sexy, and an easy read to help me break out of my reading slump.  An enemies-to-lovers style book, it had a great blend of humor and heat.

Saylor has had a crap few months and the universe is not done screwing with her.   When all seems lost, kindness from strangers helps her back to her feet.  She's sweet and sassy in a small package.  Rhett is cocky, sexy, and protective.  They mix like oil and water when they first meet.  I loved the banter between the two of them.  The chemistry was pretty hot too.  I was little sad that the banter seemed to slow down once they got to know each other better, but the tenderness that came out was a good substitution.  The characters were well written and developed.  I loved the secondary characters too, especially Grandpa Rhett.

There's minimal drama an conflict between the characters besides the banter mentioned above.  It was a smooth and easy read, keeping my attention and making me laugh.  If you need a rom-com to help keep you warm this winter, definitely pick this up.
