Blurb

You scream. I scream. We all scream during … well, you get the point.
After a failed eight-year relationship and a cross-country move, the last thing I’m looking for as a single mom is a new flame. In fact, diapers, walls marked in crayon, and daycare pickup are the only things on my to-do list.
Enter Jake Brady, your friendly neighborhood food truck owner whose dimples and delicacies won’t seem to leave well enough alone. With more popularity than the president, his wine-infused sweet treats have our nation’s capital hooked. He’s spontaneous, smug and all-American gorgeous; a dangerous combination considering he has no interest in taking on the responsibilities that rule my life.
But when we can’t seem to sample enough of each other’s … desserts, things start to get complicated. Jake is biting off more than he can chew, and when I watch him with my daughter, I can’t seem to freeze my melting heart.
Maybe it’s his waffle cone. Maybe it’s his … banana split. Either way, I think I’m in trouble with a cherry on top.

Blurb

He was as magnetic as a deadly hurricane to the shore.

Carson Cole was my first love. The boy I'd shared my whole self with.

He was the man who'd taken the other part of my soul and drowned it in the sea we'd grown up in.

And now he's back. Ten years later, and the demons of our past are still haunting every breath trapped between us.

She was as wild as the horses who owned the beach highways we drove down.

Blake Sayer was the beautiful daredevil who had me wrapped around her finger from the time we were seven.

Until a horrible accident stole every piece of joy from her life.

Ten years later, she's a shell of the girl she once was, and it's all my fault. The whispers of our history shackle her to the island I left behind.

Release Blitz: All the Frogs in Manhattan - Carrie Aarons

Title: All the Frogs in Manhattan
Author: Carrie Aarons
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 5, 2017

Blurb

You know how Cinderella had the whole glass slipper, pumpkin carriage, fairy godmother thing?

Yeah…with foot-destroying stilettos, Uber, and a Twitter horoscope, my life is far from a happily ever after.

In fact, instead of Prince Charming, I end up dating every slimy, scaly, brainless frog in the kingdom of Manhattan. And by frog, I mean all of the stereotypical bad guys that Mom and Lifetime movies warned you about.

The meathead player.
The mommy's boy.
The namedropper.
The cheapskate.

If they suck at relationships, I’ve probably kissed those cold, clammy lips in the hopes of finding love. Until one day, when one man with commitment issues offers to help me find the Romeo to my Juliet.

But what happens when the frog, who was never supposed to turn into a prince, kisses you at midnight? Ok fine, he propositioned me for some afternoon delight after brunch, but not everything can be straight out of a fairytale.

Review

Did your mom or some other older woman in your life ever tell you that you’ll have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince?  Mine did.  Unfortunately, it took moving to a bigger pond before I found my frog prince.  So the premise of this book certainly tickled my funny bone.  And then with her trademark humor, Carrie Aarons continued to entertain and amuse me throughout the book.  There was plenty of witty banter, dating shenanigans and humor woven into this tale of a single girl’s adventure in today’s dating world.

I loved Gemma.  She’s witty, bold and independent.   Her observations about dating, sex and men had me in stitches at times.  And her brush offs were great.  Oliver is nerdy, commitment-phobic and successful.  But this isn’t another alpha millionaire story.  No insta-love, insta-connection here.  These two jump into a no-strings attached affair.  This is a slow burn story.  Both Gemma and Oliver are beautifully developed characters.  They each have their own strengths, weaknesses and backstories.  The secondary characters are pretty great too.  I’d love to see some of them get their own books.

I loved how true to real life this is.  No amazing, out of the worlds sex right off the bat.  The whole book felt really genuine and authentic and it only made me love it more.  There was a small amount of drama but not super angsty.  If you are looking for a fun, sexy romance to read I would highly recommend this one.  It’s definitely going on my re-read shelf.  -Peace and Love, Buxom J

Release Blitz: Grasping Air - Carrie Aarons

grasping-air-rdl-ban

Today, we have the blog tour of Carrie Aarons's Grasping Air. Check it out and get your copy today!

grasping-air-cover

About Grasping Air:

We were the seconds after a grip released the bar, body floating through the air with nervous wonder. Would we successfully grab it again, or would we hit the mat, shattered and defeated?

Peyton Adams learned a long time ago that selfish and detached is the only way to be in life. What most people call shameless or obnoxious behavior, she considers key to getting where she needs to go. Most disapproving of all? USA Gymnastics’ golden boy with an eight-pack, Jared Hargrove. After being cut from the women’s team right before Rio, Peyton is back on the post-Summer Games tour. Not only is she the only one without a gold medal, but her history with Jared won’t stay buried for long.

Control and good manners; the two things drilled into Jared Hargrove’s head from birth. As a four-time gold medalist, he’s always obeyed the rules and reaped the reward. Well, except for the whirlwind week four years ago in London when wild-child Peyton Adams finally got under his skin, and into his bed. She broke his heart, and he hasn’t removed the ice wall around it since. Now she’s back to redeem herself to the world of gymnastics, and it seems, to push his buttons more than ever.

After years of resentment and heartache, can they repair a relationship so badly broken that most people wouldn’t even try? Or will they continue to fall, grasping at any last emotion before they finally collapse?

Review:

When I was little I loved watching the Summer Olympics and the gymnasts flying through the air.  I wanted to be one.  Alas, I’m way too tall.  Reading Grasping Air by Carrie Aarons reminded me of that long ago dream.  I was as captivated by her words now as I was a little girl watching the summer games.  I was intrigued, enthralled and unable to put this book down.

Whoever termed the phrase “love and hate are just two sides of the same coin” must have met Peyton and Jared.  After an enchanting week in London, these two can’t stand to be in the same room together.  Insults fly, the barbs hitting their marks.  Peyton is sassy, independent and broken.  My heart hurt for her, she reminded me of a lost little girl.  Jared is domineering, straight laced and serious.  Opposites definitely attracted these two.  The chemistry between them was smoking.  The sexual tension was thick.  It was delicious.

My only issue with this book was that it felt like their issues were solved a little too easily and a little too quickly.  That being said, the book didn’t lack for conflict and drama, I was definitely entertained the whole way through.  It also gave me insight into the lives of Olympic athletes and the struggle they go through.  I knew that media and fans were crazy over rock stars and actors but I never really looked into how fans responded to top tier athletes beyond the pro leagues.  There’s a little bit of crazy anytime you’re in the spotlight I guess.

If you’re a fan of sports romances, I would definitely pick this up.  If you’ve never tried one, this is definitely one to try.  It’s unique being outside the football/hockey/baseball stories that are always popping up.  I’m definitely going to be reading more of Carrie Aarons.  -Peace and love, Buxom J

  Exclusive Excerpt:

Team sports were never much my thing. I compete in a sport that is solely about my performance, I can’t play defense or sabotage my competitors. So, I’ve never really taken an interest in the traditional big time sports in America.
But, watching this hockey game, I wish I had.
“Rip his throat out!” My lungs burn as I scream, urging the player’s down on the ice to get more violent.
This game is whip fast and intense, with the guys shoving sticks at each other and body slamming into the boards.
“Now you’re getting it.” Jared’s quiet southern rumble sounds beside me as I sit back down.
“This is incredible! Wings and guys hitting each other? Feels like I’ve had a really long orgasm.” I lean back in my seat and lay my arm across the back of Julia’s seat next to my own.
Jared’s eyes heat and I bite back my smile. I know we’re being civil, friendly … that I’m not supposed to push his buttons. But, come on, this is me we’re talking about.
And even though I shouldn’t be out with him, even with a group, I couldn’t help not coming. He broke my heart a million ways from Sunday and I should completely avoid him … but Jared Hargrove is my Fourth of July sparkler. He’s shiny and beautiful, a forbidden kind of magic that is impossible not to get close to.
Until I get too close. Until I touch him. And the pain is so searing it feels like my world is melting around me.
“You’re still so vulgar.” He shakes his head, but doesn’t say it with malice.
“Zebras don’t change their stripes, Hargrove.” I flash him a smile.
This is nice, sitting together without slinging insults. The whole night has been nice. Hanging out at a bar, having a meal … these were things we never really did together when we were in the thick of it. Everything had been so intense, so fast. Maybe that’s why we tumbled out of the sky and came crashing back to earth so harshly.
“So, have you ever been to a hockey game before?”
Suddenly, I feel nervous. It hits me we’ve never done this “normal” stuff. I’ve never actually done this normal stuff with anyone, and it’s not my forte. I’m a flirt, a tease … and sometimes I even follow through on those promises. All of my relationships with men, if you could even call them relationships, are so transactional. So surface. I have only been wined and dined on the assumption that I’ll take my clothes off afterwards. I’ve never been spoken to like an equal, never been respected for my opinions or thoughts.
Well, except with Jared.
