For Cali, Max’s unexpected appearance is a blessing, as she is finally free to be herself; a knight, a woman … a lover. But when Cali meets a sexy, intriguing stranger for a single night of passion, she never could have predicted the consequences. For her mysterious stranger hides a dark secret and could be the key to solving one of society’s most shameful mysteries.

Once one of the most noble and famous members of warden society, Dex’s fall from grace decades ago has left its mark on the once proud warrior. Or is his soul lost forever?

“No. You have perfect timing, as always.” Cali assured her friend. And it was true. Pretty much everything about Diana was perfect from her gorgeous face to her sexy body to her personality. If Cali didn’t love her like a sister she probably would have shaved her head in her sleep before now.
Diana hesitated for a moment more before taking her at her word and moving forward to settle herself on the other side of Max. “Anything I can help with?” She asked, obviously picking up on the remnants of tension in the room.
“Yes.” Max replied. “We’re going to go kill Stefan.”
Diana’s flawlessly shaped eyebrows rose sharply. “Are we just? Awesome! I’ve been wanting a shot at that man’s scrotum for years now. I figure it would sit perfectly in the palm of my hand for all of one second before I ripped it from his body in a bloody but oh so satisfying display of justice.”
Cali merely rolled her eyes as she watched Max silently raise her palm for a high five and for Diana to deliver. They were a blood-thirsty, crass bunch of women. Was it any wonder she adored them? “We’re not killing Stefan.” Cali asserted.
“We are.” Max’s reply was short and to the point.
            “Not.” Cali added.
Max’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Fine. We’ll just maim him. A person doesn’t need a nut sack to live. See, I can compromise.” She ended smiling winningly.

Honour. Duty. Loyalty. Control. These are the principles Darius lives by – almost to the point of obsession. They had forged him into a noble knight but had also cost him the woman of his dreams and wrought a non-relenting hatred for his personal nemeses; the chades.

When a tiny, redheaded, whirlwind of trouble descends upon him and his fellow knights in a flurry of questions and impossibilities, Darius finds himself struggling to reconcile his past values with his future desires.

For Diana, the arrival of Max brings with it a portent; revolution. As a paladin of death, acceptance is at her core. So embracing the sarcastic powerhouse as her sworn liege is easy. But embracing a certain air paladin who is a pathological rule-follower? Well, that isn’t so easy, despite the attraction they have shared for centuries.

With Darius confronted by his demons and a bitter Warden bent on exacting revenge, will the two knights ever reach their happily ever after?

‘Diana wasn’t sure what the tiny evil female had said to the man but Darius was now staring at her with hungry eyes and she found herself instantly hypnotised by the raw desire burning in their depths. Standing up and marching purposefully from the room, she felt helpless against his magnetic pull and followed him outside, careless of what anyone might think of their abrupt departure. The second she exited the building, she found herself pushed up against the rough brick as a wicked mouth laid siege to hers. A hard thigh pressed hers open as two large hands encouraged her to move freely. Darius broke the kiss, panting roughly and leaned down, burying his face in her hair.
“I love this hair; you know that right?”
            Oh yes. She knew that.
“Do you know what I dream of every night? What I’ve dreamed of every night for the last eight hundred years?” His voice was low and raspy as he twined the inky coils around and around his fingers. He gave a small tug. Oh, apparently she was supposed to answer.’

He was just walking past the window to grab his clothes when a flash of flesh from below caught his eye. Cali was dressed in her usual tight shorts and sports bra but it wasn’t the sight of the willowy blonde that had him freezing in his tracks. No it was the shorter, curvier red head, dressed in tights and a belly-revealing singlet top. She was bending over, head flush with her knees, arms wrapped her legs with all that glorious hair brushing along the ground. So much for negative reinforcement, he thought as he glared accusingly at his once again rigid dick. The woman’s arse was a thing of beauty, all round and firm, and his hands literally flexed with the need to touch. As if sensing his gaze, Max whipped herself upright, her turquoise gaze latching onto his form that was no doubt outlined perfectly in the early morning light. Hell, the window he was standing at was even arch-shaped, like he was posing for some cheesy romance novel or something. Panicking and acting purely in self-preservation rather than rational thought, he allowed his limbs to go loose and face-planted on the floor below the window.

For the next five minutes he could do no more than mewl like a kitten … he had landed directly on his stiff cock.

Author Interview: Montana Ash

Thank you for agreeing to this interview!  First, can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

By night, I write paranormal and fantasy romance with a good dollop of Aussie humour and sexy-fun times. By day, I am a scientist. I currently have three books out in my Elemental Paladins series and I am currently writing book four as well as a gritty, sexy new series.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Stubborn, easy-going, loyal.

If someone wrote a book of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, horror or science fiction/fantasy?  What would be the title?

Definitely not a romantic-comedy! Drama? Nah, not so much. Maybe a comedy mixed with horror and a dash of fantasy ;) Only because I seem to be one of the most accident prone people I know – not clumsy – but I definitely get my share of random bad luck. As for the title … ‘A day in the life of Montana Ash: A Survivors Guide’

If you could have unlimited storage of one thing, what would it be?

Oh, books for sure. An unlimited source of books would be a dream come true.

If you could have dinner with three people, past or present, who would it be and why?

Einstein – what I wouldn’t give to pick his brain!
Leonardo da Vinci – tell me who the real Mona Lisa was, dammit!!!
A dinosaur – yes, yes, I know – very weird and random. But come on, who doesn’t want to meet a real dinosaur?! As long as I’m not on the menu of course …

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

English was always my favourite subject in school. I even enjoyed writing essays. So I have always liked the process of writing, but honestly, I didn’t begin to entertain the idea of being an author until a couple of years ago. I had so many worlds and characters in my head, that I decided I would sit down and write one of them out. Thus, the Elemental Paladins were born.

What draws you to this genre?  Are you interested in writing other genres?  If so what ones?
What genre wouldn’t you write?

The freedom. I love the freedom paranormal and fantasy allows me; no rules, anything goes, it’s all plausible because it’s fantasy! I’m keen to write young adult and wouldn’t say no to crime fiction either. The only genre I’m not a fan of is non-fiction – biographies etc.

If you could change one thing about this genre, what would it be?

Hmm, I can’t say I would change anything about the paranormal/fantasy genre. It’s the freedom thing again. I’m happy for it to be free and unrestricted …

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

How much the plot and the characters evolve. They truly do write themselves in many ways. I can never predict where the story will end, even though I have every book plotted and planned from start to finish!

What do you like to read in your free time?

I read paranormal romance of course, crime fiction, science fiction, fantasy, contemporary romance, thriller, and horror. The only genre I’m not particularly fond of is biographies.

Which writers inspire you?

Jane Austen – an empowered female author, well ahead of her time. Also indie authors who find real success – good for them!

What book that you have read has most influenced your life?

Probably ‘To Kill A Mocking Bird’ by Harper Lee. Truly a wonderful book I was introduced to at only 13 years old. Even at that age, I could see and feel how much power words could hold over a reader. What a gift!

Do you listen to music when you write?  Is there a certain type you like to listen to?  Do you put your playlists on Spotify for listeners?

I do listen to music when I write. Either that, or movies/TV series in the background. I like noise. I have very eclectic taste in music from Placebo, to Mariah Carey, to Ed Sheeran, to Boyce Avenue, to Sia, and Evanescence. I haven’t yet shared my playlists with readers … but it’s a great idea!

If you could spend time with a character from your books who would it be? And what would you do during that day? (PG-13 please ;-) )

Max for sure! A day with her would be so much fun! I would definitely have to take her to a karaoke bar, given her very vocal objections to those establishments. I would make it my mission to figure out what the hell the ‘donkey and the train incident’ was.

What character in your books are you least likely to get along with?

Definitely the snobby, elitist characters that make up the council who govern over the special warden/paladin society. I can’t stand people who look down on others for no other reason than they were lucky enough to be born into a certain household.

What are you working on at the moment?

I currently have delusions of grandeur in that I am writing three books concurrently; Book four and five in my Elemental Paladins series – Ranger and Custodian; Book one in my new series, Reluctant Royals – Reluctant King. And I am also playing with another author to co-write a young adult fantasy book – T.J. Spade. So I guess, technically, this year has at least a line-up of four new books. Definitely delusional ;) But would be great if I could pull them all off!

Author Bio

Montana is a self-confessed book junkie. Although she loves reading all genres from romance to crime fiction to sci-fi, her not-so-guilty pleasure is paranormal romance. Alpha men, just a little bit damaged, and Alpha women who don't seem to know they need looking after, are a favourite combination of hers. Throw in some steamy sex scenes, a touch of humour, and a little violence and she is in heaven!

Her overactive (and overindulged) imagination could only take so much before the many voices wanted out. Thus, Montana's journey into the wonderful world of writing.

She is a scientist by day, having grown up in country New South Wales, Australia. Writing about ancient knights, demons and shapeshifters is such a delicious contradiction to her day job in the laboratory, that she doesn't see the voices stopping anytime soon!

Review

Take an uptight, rule loving warrior and throw a rule breaking minx in his midst?  You get chaos.  Darius is having a hard time adjusting to having Max in their lives.  Especially with the revelations at the end of Warden.  Add in Diana, the woman he’s been lusting after for eight centuries?  The poor man is a big ole bundle of repressed mess.  Diana's been stubbornly resisting him since he rejected her so long ago and has no plans to stop.  As Darius make sense of Max and where she came from, Diana tries to make him see sense.  This leads to some spectacular fireworks.   Throw in a great deal of banter and some humor with a bit of booty shaking to Kelis’ Milkshake and I was grinning like a fool most of the time.  If you loved Max in Warden, don’t worry, even though Paladin focuses on Darius and Diana’s story there’s plenty of Max’s feisty self to go around.  I can’t wait to see what havoc she wrecks in the next book.  This series just keeps me entertained beginning to end.  - Peace and Love, Buxom J

Review: Warden - Montana Ash

Blurb

Ryker is a paladin. An ancient knight, born to protect those precious few who hold powers over the elements. He is bound by honour, courage and loyalty. But when tragedy strikes he forsakes everything he stands for, vowing never to serve again. He opens his home to other rejected and dishonoured knights … but never his heart. That is, until a sarcastic, sword-wielding, miniature Warden barges into his life, bringing chaos and mayhem to his carefully ordered world.

Will he forgive himself for past mistakes? Or will old wounds continue to scar his future?

Max is different. She has a strange affinity to nature and finds herself constantly causing disasters wherever she goes. What’s more, strange creatures stalk her every step, their relentless pursuit driving her to the brink of exhaustion. Stumbling upon a gaggle of hot ancient knights seems too good to be true but she can’t deny they have the answers she’s looking for. Too bad their Captain is a growly, insensitive jerk who insults her every time he opens his gorgeous mouth.

Should she trust her instincts and allow herself to hope for the first time in her life? Or will her fierce independence cause her to lose the one thing she has always craved? A home.

Review

Okay, so I have a confession.

*clears her throat and looks around sheepishly*

I met the author of Warden through the street team of another author quite a while ago and added it to my Goodreads TBR.  But I kept putting it off.  And off.  And off.  I had a case of the “oh look squirrel!” syndrome, the cover didn’t interest me (sorry Montana!).  Yes, this was a case of judging the book by its cover.  Oh put your whips and chains away.  I regret it now and you will too if you let this one slip you by!

Take a feisty, pint-sized woman drop her in the midst of a bunch of warriors including a grumpy, alpha male with a stick up his rear and what do you get?  Warden.  It was an explosion of one-liners and banter that kept me grinning and giggling throughout the book.  Max, the heroine, is my spirit animal.   Alone for most of her life, she’s a survivor and takes no crap from anyone not even a bunch of pretty men and women who have been around the block a time or two.  Ryker is the unofficial leader of the ragtag bunch of warriors Max has stumbled amongst.  He’s got a world of guilt sitting on his shoulders and a stick the size of Everest up his bum.  The two clash and the chemistry sizzles.  The other warriors add doses of humor into the mix while Montana Ash builds an intriguing world of magic.  I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble the group gets into next. - Peace and Love, Buxom J
